Peaches Geldof, the high-flying socialite daughter of Irish musician Bob Geldof, was found dead today (Apr. 7) at her house in Wrotham, Kent, about 30 miles southeast of London. So far the cause is unknown.

Police are calling the death of the 25-year-old sometime journalist, television host and model, “sudden” and “unexplained,” according to various news reports.

Geldof was married to Thomas Cohen, lead singer of the South East London band S.C.U.M. and had two children. Before that, she was married to rock musician Max Drummey.

Bob Geldof Statement on Death of Peaches Geldof

Earlier today, her father issued a statement on her death: “Peaches has died. We are beyond pain. She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us. Writing ‘was’ destroys me afresh. What a beautiful child. How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable? We loved her and will cherish her forever. How sad that sentence is. Tom and her sons Astala and Phaedra will always belong in our family, fractured so often, but never broken.

Peaches was known for hard partying and drug use, including heroin. In 2011, she was tied to the heroin-overdose death of an 18-year-old friend. She denied having anything to do with his death, but acknowledged giving him money to buy drugs.

She spoke in a 2012 interview about her “scary” and “sad” childhood and expressed determination to give her son a stable family life, according to London’s Telegraph newspaper.

Her mother died from an accidental heroin overdose when she was 11-years-old. The death followed a bitter split from her father. The divorce she said affected her tremendously growing up.

She admitted to heavy drinking and taking drugs as a teenager and went through two whirlwind marriages by the time she was 21.

Peaches was last known to be alive at 10:17 am yesterday when she Tweeted a photograph of her and her late mother, according to London’s Daily Mail.

That may have sent her into a tailspin of depression.

She was last seen at the F+F fashion show in London last Thursday evening, the Mail reported.

Peaches is survived by sisters Fifi Trixibelle Geldof and Pixie Geldof. She also has a younger half-sister, Tiger Lily Hutchence Geldof.
