The king of ’70s and ’80s glam rock has been awarded 28 gold records, more than any other rock band, although rock critics were mostly dismissive during their heyday.
Last night, the fired-up a whole new generation with their hard-rock renditions of “King Of The Night Time World,” “Hotter Than Hell,” and “Firehouse.” They were in full regalia and backed by some dramatic on-stage pyrotechnics.
The band’s 40th anniversary tour will kick off in June, accompanied by ’80s heavy metal band Def Leppard.
KISS refused to perform at their Hall of Fame Ceremony over a dispute involving the band’s lineup. The Hall only wanted original members Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehely and Peter Kriss on the dais.
But Simmons and Stanley insisted on including Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer from the current lineup.
