Matthew McConaughey blasts off into deep space on a mission to save earth.

Matthew McConaughey gets featured treatment in the first trailer to detail Christopher Nolan’s new movie “Interstellar.” It plots his efforts to save mankind from a dying earth.

In a teaser trailer released last December, Nolan presented warm, fuzzy images of space.

“We count these moments… when we dared to aim higher, to break barriers; to reach for the stars; to make the unknown known,” McConaughey said in a solemn voice-over against the backdrop of haunting organ music.

The new trailer brings the movie back to earth, if only briefly.

It shows McConaughey’s character, Cooper, an aerospace engineer and pilot, eking out a bleak existence with his two kids.

His weepy daughter is played with conviction by “Twilight’s” Mackenzie Foy.

It’s clear the earth is dying and slowly turning into a giant dust bowl.

Cooper is enlisted with other explorers who use a newly discovered wormhole to travel vast distances in space. Their mission is to save humans from economic, environmental and social collapse.

“We must confront the reality that nothing in our solar system… can help us,” says Michael Caine’s character, a wizened professor. “We’re not meant to save the world; we’re meant to leave it.”

The movie sends Anne Hathaway into space along with other stars that include Jessica Chastain, Bill Irwin, Ellen Burstyn, John Lithgow and Matt Damon.

The film will be released by Paramount and Warner Brothers this November.
