Michael Keaton stars as a washed up actor trying to make a comeback in Birdman.

Michael Keaton last flew through the skies in a starring role in Tim Burton’s Batman series in the late ’80s and early ’90s. But he’s back as a new superhero in the new trailer for “Birdman.”

Keaton stars with a top cast that includes Emma Stone, Edward Norton, Andrea Riseborough, Zach Galifianakis, Naomi Watts and Amy Ryan.

Keaton plays Riggan Thomson, a down-on-his-luck actor once know for his own superhero role. He tries to stage a comeback in a Broadway play.

He must contend with a self-important actor (Norton) who tries to take over the play. Check out Ed in his skivvies in the trailer!

The dark comedy, directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, is actually a character study the probes Thomson’s descent into a world he never thought he’d inhabit and his attempt to scratch his way back.

“How did we end up here… in this dump,” Keaton’s character says in a voice-over opening the clip. “You were a movie star, remember?”

Judging from the trailer the movie will be scatological and filled with eccentric characters. In short, it’s a perfect film for Keaton.
