The “Twilight” actress must have really been peeved to learn that Joan Rivers had made fun of her affair in her new book, “Diary of a Mad Diva.”
The hipster actress, who is supposedly cool with everything, reportedly ordered her lawyers to threaten Rivers with a lawsuit if she kept Stewart in the book.
The lawyers had to know how futile that was, but made the threat anyway, according to gossip site TMZ. Of course, Joan had a field day with it.
Here’s the offending passage:
“Many stars only do one thing well. Of course, the best one-trick-pony is Kristen Stewart, who got a whole career by being able to juggle a director’s balls.”
Too bad there’s this little thing called the First Amendment. Although Joan wrote the passage as a matter-of-fact, she claims the whole book is nothing more than satire.
In other words, automatic First Amendment protection.
A rep for Rivers says the lawyers have faded back into the woodwork after making their initial threat. Obviously, they knew the score right off the bat.
They probably were just trying to soothe some hurt feelings by going through the motions.
In any event, no changes are planned for the book, according to the reps.
Sleeping with a director carries a certain stigma in Hollywood.
Stewart, who wants to be considered a “serious” actress, should have known better.
It was bad enough she had an affair with a married man, but she was also in the middle of one of the most publicized romances in Hollywood history with “Twilight” co-star Robert Pattinson.
