It’s probably the biggest downside to her life since her fame went global during the “Twilight” movie series, she says.
Stewart is hounded by paparazzi where ever she goes. She is the subject of unending tabloid speculation about her romance with Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson.
And, she’s still dogged by her affair with married director Rupert Sanders, who directed her in “Snow White and the Huntsman.”
Nothing, she said, prepared her for the insane level of scrutiny celebrities face today.
“For people to say it is not a big deal, it is not real life — that is a sentiment I couldn’t peddle more,” she told the magazine.
“I completely agree that all of this media stuff, if you’re involved in it, can’t really touch you physically, and it shouldn’t affect you and all that,” she adds. “Yet it does technically affect your life.”
Stewart said coming from a Hollywood family–mom Jules Mann Stewart is an indie filmmaker and dad John is a stage manager–helped ease her into the public life she now navigates.
Another spin-off of her acting career is her embrace of high fashion.
She got her first big break from Nicolas Ghesquiere, who was then fashion director for Balenciaga. He stuck by her throughout her cheating scandal when reports claimed the brand was booting her.
When Ghesquiere was summarily booted from the brand, Kristen ended her relationship as well. She next signed to rep for Chanel’s Métiers d’Art Paris-Dallas collection campaign.
For her Vanity Fair spread, she poses for famed photographer Karl Lagerfeld.
“When you say Karl Lagerfeld, you almost picture the silhouette before the actual man. You can see the shape in a drawing,” she said.
“What really shocked me is how prolific he is,” she says. “His capacity is really obvious. He’s like an enormous vault of information. It’s crazy.”
