Kanye West and wife Kim Kardashian are building on their Vogue magazine cover photo and have become the face of “love” for Balmain, a haute couture fashion house founded by Pierre Balmain in France.

If it’s any consolation, the French love Jerry Lewis, too.

“For this Menswear campaign, I wanted to capture a moment of love. Kim and Kanye are style icons and friends. It is an honor to have them in this Balmain campaign,” said creative director Olivier Rousteing.

Kim and, Kanye for that matter, have been struggling for fashion credibility for years. They thought they got it when Vogue published their wedding photo on the cover, plus an extensive spread inside.

But Vogue Editor Anna Wintour took some of the air out of the accomplishment when she acknowledged the cover was “tacky,” although she compared it to a similar spread on Madonna in her early days.

For the Balmain spread, the fashion house turned to Mario Sorrenti, who photographed the couple for the brand’s Spring-Summer 2015 menswear campaign.

For the companion womenswear campaign it stuck with models Adriana Lima and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

Kardashian was elated by the photos and shared one on Instagram today (Dec. 22) with the caption: “BALMAIN!!!!!!”

Rousteing, who is a close friend gushed:

“Together, they represent love, beauty and diversity—they are the new modernity. This is more than a campaign, it expresses something beyond clothes—it is a celebration of love and friendship. This is a new statement for Balmain.”
