Hillary Clinton got a taste of what she will be up against on “Saturday Night Live,” once she kicks off her campaign for president. Would you believe cold, hard and calculating? Hello Dick Nixon.

Clinton is expected to announce on today (Apr. 12) that she is launching her second campaign for president.

The move immediately makes her the front-runner for the Democratic nomination and fair game for the jokesters on the late night comedy sketch show.

How SNL plays her is of no small importance. Political satire, especially during presidential campaigns, has been one of the show’s specialties going back to the days of the original cast in the 1970s.

Chevy Chase’s comedic portrayal of President Gerald Ford as a bumbling dolt to devastating effect, probably helped elect his challenger, Jimmy Carter.

More recently, Tina Fey’s almost weekly take downs of 2008 Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin also helped shape public opinion and influence the election.

Clinton’s portrayal is not new. But Kate McKinnon owns the caricature of her as a hard-edged, polarizing pol totally lacking in warmth or charisma.

The scene opens with Hillary fine-tuning her social media skills before she makes her announcement on Twitter. The task is to make her come across as warm an natural. Darrell Hammond is back in his familiar role as Bill Clinton.

Try as she might, Hillary just can’t seem to find her mojo, like Bill always could.

Check out the sketch below and let the campaign begin. Be sure to follow IM on Twitter for the latest in comedy.
