  • Peter Frampton, who exploded on the music scene in the mid-70s, showed the same musical magic last night (July 29) at New Orleans’ Champions Square that has made him one of the best selling artists in pop music history.

Frampton, who is now 64, played on a double bill with the Doobie Brothers , while, oddly, Beyonce and Ja-Zay played a concert next door in the Super Dome.

Frampton was a musical phenom when he broke on the scene. His fifth solo album, Frampton Comes Alive!, is the top-selling live record of all time.

The album yielded three rock classics “Baby, I Love Your Way”, “Show Me the Way”, and an edited version of “Do You Feel Like We Do,” all of which he played last night (July 20)

He started playing in bands at 12 in his native UK and co-founded English super-group Humble Pie when he was only 18, He went solo in 1971.

Frampton’s career reached a zenith with his fifth solo album and he was soon eclipsed by another rocker Bruce Springsteen, who also landed on the cover of Time.

He’s known, today, for his stellar guitar work and his collaborations with such artists as Beatles George Harrison and Ringo Starr, composer Harry Nilsson, David Bowie, Jerry Lee Lewis and The Who’s John Entwistle, who died in 2002.
