Ok, only zebras, but the clip has striking parallels with the movie.
Swift is set to debut the video at the MTV Music Video Awards pre-show this Sunday (Aug. 30).
“Wildest Dreams music video preview. VMA night. Get ready. #WildestDreamsMusicVideo,” she teased in a caption to the clip, which she posted on her Instagram account.
Judging from the brief glimpse she provided, the video will be set in Africa. It opens focusing on an extreme close-up of an azure blue eye.
Then, it cuts to herds of zebras, a close-up of a man and a woman kissing in the rain, a white bird and a vintage 1930s biplane.
Each scene has parallels with the movie.
Streep plays Isak Dinesen, aka Danish author Karen Blixen. The movie is based on Blixen’s 1937 autobiographical novel set in Africa.
Blixen travels to Africa and weds in an arranged marriage to a Baron, who turns out to be a womanizer. The buy a plantation, but the marriage falters.
Blixen has an on-again, off-again affair with a big game hunter, who dies tragically in the crash of a biplane–one of the tie-ins to the video.
Although the film was generally panned by critics, it won seven Academy Awards. They included Best Picture, Best Director (Sydney Pollack) and Best Cinematography.
Streep was nominated for Best Actress, but did not win.
The track is the fifth single from her pure pop album `1989.
