Trump caused an uproar when he pronounced during his kickoff speech that illegal immigrants are “bringing drugs … they’re bringing crime … they’re rapists.”
The Mexican government, a number of top U.S. political figures, including President Obama, and a slew of celebrities blasted him. But The Donald refused to apologize.
He’s reiterated his plan to build a “great, great wall” along the border with Mexico and force the Mexican government to pay for it. And, he vowed to win the Latino vote in the presidential election.
But VL Action Network, which battles stereotypes about the Latino community, and Latino comedy troupe Room 28 produced a video with a clear response: “I won’t vote for Trump!”
“We will not be voting for presidential candidates that use our community as scapegoats for their personal gain,” they said in a statement.
Actor Jacob Berger portrays Donald Trump in the video. It stars Jerry Diaz as Elmo Difoca, who wrote and performed the vidoe’s track.
Michael Diaz also stars as Don Limon and Rachel Strauss plays Chef. The cast also includes Ariana Rodriguez, Jaime Fernandez, Marco Sotomayor, Franny Scott, Anthony Prince, Alessio Araujo and Robert Rios III.
The video opens with a blustery Trump emerging from an elevator surrounded by Latinos working in service jobs. He jumps in his SUV with a Latino driver.
“Just keep your beady Mexican eyes on the road, get me there in one piece. I’m going to take a little siesta here, like your people like to do,” he says.
With that, Diaz breaks out in a rap. “We won’t vote Trump.”
