Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd reprised their characters, Marty McFly and Doc Brown, from the 1985 Sci-Fi comedy “Back to the Future” and turned up on Jimmy Kimmel last night. Boy, were they disappointed in the real future.

The movie was a commercial and critical success and has become a cult classic.

As it turned out, Oct. 21, 2015 was the date that Marty and Doc landed in the future from 1985 and discovered a world of new wonders. Sadly the real future hasn’t turned out to be quite as bright.

Among the major disappointments, no Johnny Carson, no flying cars and still no peace in the Middle East.

“What the hell have you guys been doing for 30 years?” Marty bellowed.

Kimmel did his best to explain the many achievements of the 21st century, but the best he could do was conuts, selfies and his smart phone. Score at least one for the real 21st century denizen.

Marty and Doc were suitable impressed with the smart phone… maybe too impressed. “[The] tiny super computer…must allow astrophysicists to triangulate complex equations in real time.” he marveled.

Alas, no. More like sending smiley faces, Kimmel replied.

There was even a Donald Trump joke. But all in all, “2015 sucks,” Marty lamented. He’s got that right.
