Emma Roberts plays a really scary mean girl on the new Fox show “Scream Queens,” but she wants to let you know she’s afraid of the dark like everyone else. The horror comedy television series was created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan.

The show is part Animal House and part American Horror story set on a fictional Wallace University, home to the Kappa Kappa Tau sorority.

Roberts plays Chanel Oberlin; the mean and spiteful Kappa Kappa president. She clashes with Dean Cathy Munsch, played by Jamie Lee Curtis, over a 20-year murder mystery.

The suspect, known as the Red Devil serial killer suddenly reappears and begins to stalk sorority members.

The ensemble cast includes Abigail Breslin, Skyler Samuels and Lea Michele and a revolving cast of special guests that include well-known names like singers Ariana Grande and Nick Jonas.

Emma has played her fair share of scary movies and tough girl parts.

She starred in 2011’s “Scream 4” and appears in an upcoming psychological thriller “Nerve.” She also played a tough girl role in “We’re the Millers.”

But in the real world it’s a different story.

“I’m the biggest scaredy-cat of them all,” she says in the November issue of Teen Vogue.

“My friends don’t even want me to see scary movies with them, because they know that they’ll have to sleep over after or that I’ll be calling them all night thinking that a ghost is in the house,” she adds.
