Sabrina Carpenter, best known for her starring role in Disney’s “Girl Meets World” sit-com, turned 16 in May and has blossomed into a sensual young actress. Her debut album was released this year and she’s got a new Disney Channel Original Movie on deck.
But judging from her latest photo spread in Cliche, a digital fashion magazine, Disney may not be able to keep her down on the farm much longer.
Sabrina has all the attributes that catapulted such former Disney teens as Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus and Christina Aguilera into the limelight. The only question is which path will she take?
She can count on Disney to keep her in the spotlight until she turns 18, but the entertainment conglomerate typically pushes its young starlets out of the nest once they reach the age of consent.
It looks like she’s ready to fly the coup right now. She looks stunning in a series of long gowns that highlight her femininity. Photographer Emmanuelle Choussy was behind the lens and captured the teen’s budding sensuality.
Sabrina, who was born in Lehigh Valley, Pa, was a standout on “The Next Miley Cyrus Project,” a 2010 singing contest hosted by a far tamer Miley on her Web site. Sabrina placed third as an 11-year-old.
She landed her first acting job a year later. She appeared on the NBC drama series “Law & Order: SVU,” playing a young rape victim.
Sabrina also has singing chops. She released a single and YouTube video in 2011 and received more than one million views. She followed up with a release on iTunes.
She scored a recurring role on Fox’s “The Goodwin Games” and was picked up as a series regular on two pilots: “Gulliver Quinn” on the Disney Channel and ABC’s “The Unprofessional.”
In 2013, Sabrina was cast as Maya Hart in the Disney Channel series “Girl Meets World,” opposite Rowan Blanchard. She was also signed to a recording contract with Disney label, Hollywood Records.
Her debut album Eyes Wide Open was released in April. It peaked at No. 43 on the album charts.
Her upcoming Disney Channel movie, “Further Adventures in Babysitting,” is a stand-alone sequel to the 1987 hit “Adventures in Babysitting.”
She teams up with Sofia Carson,. Both play babysitters who are forced to scour a major city after one of their kids goes missing.
Sabrina’s days as a child star are obviously numbered. But she seems will positioned to make the transition to more mature roles.
