Kate Gosselin was the dumpiest last season, Bristol Palin, has been the frumpiest this season on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, largely out of deference to her right wing, Bible thumping mother Sarah Palin. But no more; Bristol’s getting down and dirty.

After previously vowing to only wear toned down outfits on the popular dance show, Bristol is changing her tune after finishing near the bottom on this week’s episodes.

Palin performed a fox trot with partner Mark Ballas Monday night. It began with a striptease and went down hill from there. Her score of 19, just a of Margaret Cho, who scored an 18 and was eliminated.

“We’re doing the sexy dance next week, and I have to get into character,” Bristol, 19, tells People. “Dressing sexy will help me get into character more. Next week, I’ll be dressing sexy. This is it.”

But what would her mother say? Sarah Palin has made appearances on the show to support her daughter and grab a little media attention of her own.

But she has already been widely criticized because Bristol was an unwed teen mother, which raised serious questions about Sarah’s parenting skills, or lack thereof.

But Bristol is apparently sick of the pressure to wear conservative costumes.

Bristol, who has said she’s nervous about performing live because of her lack of dance experience, is determined to overcome her insecurities and do well.

“I’m definitely nervous for next week, because I have to be sexy in the dance and I have to find the sexy in me,” she says.

Interestingly, Bristol says she hasn’t lost any weight despite the hours of grueling training and rehearsals she has been undergoing.

In past seasons of DWTS, many contestants have lost significant amounts of weight, including  Gosselin, Kelly Osbourne and Erin Andrews.

“I haven’t really noticed a change in [my body],” Bristol told Access Hollywood. “I think most people lose weight [on the show] because they’re too stressed out to eat. I haven’t had that problem!”

However, the athletic Palin says her legs are definitely more toned now — a sentiment echoed by her rival, Audrina Patridge, who gushes that she’s fitter than ever, thanks to her strenuous daily dance workouts.

“I would say I’m in the best shape of my life,” she said. “Dancing is so different than going to the gym. I’m going to be so sad when it’s over!”
