Johnny Depp’s bitter split with Amber Heard after a 15-month marriage, has ripped the lid off sexual politics in Hollywood. Heard is finding support in the gay and lesbian community after branding Depp a serial abuser and winning a restraining order last week.

Oddly, Depp has always been a strong supporter of the LGBT community. But he’s now being treated like an outcast.

Part of his problem can be traced to tabloid reports that he became “insanely jealous” after Heard was linked to her old girlfriend Tasya van Ree and UK model Cara Delevingne.

Heard openly declared her bi-sexuality at the GLAAD 25th Anniversary Celebration in December 2010, although her sexual orientation had been an open secret in Hollywood before then. She started dating van Ree, 40, in 2008.

She met Depp on the set during filming of “The Rum Diary.” At the time Depp was still in a relationship with French actress and singer Vanessa Paradis.

He left Paradis from the much younger Heard, who is 22 years his junior. They married in March a year ago. If there was trouble in the relationship it wasn’t apparent as late as January this year.

That month, they exchanged some serious PDA at the The Art of Elysium 2016 Heaven Gala in Los Angeles. They also put up a united front when they flew to Australia to answer charges that Heard had smuggled her pet Yorkshire terriers into the country.

She had flown to Australia last year to be with Depp while he filmed the latest “Pirates of the Caribbean” film. Long periods apart when Depp was off filming movies may have contributed to their estrangement.

But it didn’t help that Heard was photographed with UK model Cara Delevingne. Some tabloids claimed she was obsessed with her and openly flirting when they were spotted together.

Delevingne is also openly bi-sexual and has had open relationships with several women, including actress Michelle Rodriguez and singer St. Vincent, real name Annie Clark.

The Sun, a London tabloid, reported that Heard’s growing relationship with the model led to fits of jealous rage.

An anonymous source claimed:

“He didn’t like quite a few of Amber’s friends, but he took a particular dislike to Cara… It was the friendship with her that really started to drive him insane. Amber always made her bisexual tendencies quite obvious, but that would spark furious rows with Johnny, who hated how indiscreet she was being. On one occasion he even screamed at her: ‘You’re making a fool of me.'”

Heard filed for divorce from Depp last week, two days after the death of his mother. She followed the filing with explosive allegations that he abused her and won a restraining order in court.

Former Partner Vanessa Paradis, Depp’s children and several close friends have since come to his defense. Meanwhile, Heard is finding the most sympathy in the gay and lesbian community.

Whether the rift becomes serious and breaks out into open hostility in Hollywood remains to be seen. But a divide has clearly emerged.
