Jessa Duggar is a married mom now, but remembers how strict her parents’ rules on dating were when she was younger.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, the patriarch and matriarch of the 19-children Duggar family, didn’t allow their kids to have premarital sex or make unchaperoned telephone calls before marriage.

But Jessa said she and husband Ben Seewald broke the phone rule, unbeknownst to their strict Christian parents.

“The day Ben and I started courting, we began our tradition of calling each other on the phone every night!” Jessa wrote in Growing Up Duggar. “These were such special times.

“We would talk about everything from how our day went, to what we had been learning from our Bible reading, and then just anything else that we wanted to talk about. These calls were not ‘chaperoned.’ They were private, just between the two of us.”

Given their family’s repressive dating rules, it’s not surprising that all of the Duggar kids immediately get pregnant as soon as they marry (since they can’t wait to finally have sex!)

It’s perhaps also not surprising that Jessa’s brother, Josh Duggar, sexually molested five underage girls — including Jessa and three of his sisters — when he was 14 years old.

Growing up as one among a litter of 19 repressed, neglected kids, Josh later went on to suffer from porn and sex addictions.

In 2015, he admitted he had cheated on his wife Anna (who was then pregnant with their fourth child) with several women, including porn star Danica Dillon, , as TheImproper has reported.

The combination of Josh’s child molestation past and his serial cheating caused TLC to cancel the Duggars’ hit TV show, 19 Kids and Counting, in July 2015.

The cancellation of “19 Kids” was a huge financial setback for the Duggars, who earned $25,000 to $45,000 per episode. The Duggars have not been able to make for the lost income with other jobs.

In 2015, the Duggar family reportedly lost over $25 million on lost book deals, endorsements and speaking engagements stemming from their show’s cancellation.

TLC recently threw the Duggars a lifeline when it renewed their spinoff TV show, “Jill and Jessa: Counting On” for a second season. A premiere date for season 2 has not yet been set.
