The event, Miami’s equivalent to New York Fashion Week, takes place in trendy South Beach.
Swim Week has become more than a fashion show. It’s become a series of promotional events such as SWIMMIAMI, an annual emerging designers event and a charity benefit show, “Angels Watching Over Me,” according to the local Miami New Times.
Like New York Fashion Week of old, many of the shows are held in runway tents right on South Beach, hosted by SWIMMIAMI and Funkshion, which is in its 14th year.
Funkshion will feature 15 designers, including notables such as Tori Praver, Luli Fama Beach Riot and Maaji, according to the group’s Web site.
“This season is especially important as we evolve Swim Fashion Week to showcase the brightest talent in the industry today,” said Sale Stojanovic, partner and co-founder of Funkshion Productions said in a statement.
The Hammock show, (featured below) has been held in Miami since 2010. It features new swim, resort, beauty and accessories brands, according to the company’s Web site.
Hammock has set up camp at the five-star W South Beach hotel.
