Dwayne Johnson is the highest paid actor in the world, says Forbes.

Dwayne Johnson is the highest-paid actor in the world for 2016, according to Forbes, which estimated “The Rock” earned $64.5 million between June 2015 and June 2016, topping such actors as Tom Cruise, Matt Damon and Johnny Depp.

Johnson’s 2016 income was double that of the previous year, when he earned $31 million and was ranked No. 11 on the Forbes annual list of the highest-paid actors in the world (see list below).

This year, The Rock bested Jackie Chan, who came in at No. 2 with $61 million, and “Jason Bourne” star Matt Damon, who earned $55 million.

Dwayne, 44, responded to the barrage of congrats he received from fellow celebrities by tweeting: “I started w/$7 bucks. If I can overcome, so can you. Waffle House on me!”

Earlier this year, Johnson was named one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World by Time magazine.

The strapping 6-foot-5 Rock, who started his career as a pro wrestler, earned $5.5 million for his first role in the 2002 film “The Scorpion King.”

By 2011, Johnson’s salary had ballooned to $32 million for the action flick “Fast Five.”  Johnson next stars opposite Vin Diesel in “Fast 8,” the eighth installment of the  blockbuster Fast and the Furious franchise.

The Rock, whose net worth reportedly tops $125 million, attributed his success to hard work, determination and persistence.
