Kim Kardashian created some drama for more than 83 million followers on social media by waffling on her choice for president. But she made up for it with a compelling and well-thought-out endorsement of Hillary Clinton. The reality star said she was voting not just for herself, but for her children.

Kardashian, who is considered a master of public relations, raised eyebrows when she said she was on the fence about supporting Clinton or GOP candidate Donald Trump.

“There was a point when I wasn’t 100% sure I was even going to vote in this election; I didn’t want to vote blindly,” she wrote.

“But I also thought about how not voting would mean that I wasn’t making my voice heard,” she added.

So, Kim said she decided to do some research and talk to friends and family members, including Republican step-dad Kaitlyn Jenner, who is transgender.

Her goal, she said, was to have “an open conversation about politics.”

Kardashian hasn’t always been the most sophisticated about politics. She was manipulated and played in 2011, when she was featured on the April issue of the Turkish edition of Cosmopolitan magazine.

She was widely criticized for being an unwitting pawn in an effort by Turkish authorities to minimize a somber day of remembrance for millions of Armenians who died in the World War I Armenian genocide.

But she quickly schooled herself on the issue, and has helped since then to call attention to the genocide, which is marked every year by Genocide Remembrance Day.

Kardashian said her decision in the current election was swayed by her conversation with Caitlyn Jenner.

“She encouraged me to do my research before making my decision and then vote for the candidate whose policies aligned with the things that matter most to me,” the mother of two said. “And so that’s what I did.”

Kardashian said on issues such as “protecting women’s rights to safe and legal abortion” that she found “without a doubt, I stand with Hillary.”

She added:

I’m with her. I believe Hillary will best represent our country and is the most qualified for the job. This year, I’m not just voting for myself, but also for my children, and I took that into careful consideration when I made my decision.”

Kardashian said she “would never judge anyone based on their political or religious beliefs.”

“God bless America for allowing us to even make these decisions — there are so many in this world who are not so privileged.”
