Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt filed for divorce in search of a paycheck. Who knew? (Besides everyone?) Now they are back together and broke, with potential bankruptcy looming. How about a new reality series… finding jobs?
Heidi and Spencer, probably the two most plastic people in Hollywood, confess all in a new interview with Life & Style magazine.
Heidi and Spencer patched things up less than two months after Heidi filed for divorce in July, because they hopes of turning the divorce into a reality show failed to materialize, they said.
The couple says they blew through $10 million, their take from their MTV reality show “The Hills.”
When they learned the show would not be renewed, they concocted a plan to get attention by divorcing shortly after their anniversary, the magazine reports.
The move was prompted after British TV network ITV expressed an interest in an reality show based on the couple’s divorce. But the deal fell through and so did the divorce.
“The divorce was real – just the idea behind it was different than most people’s,” Spencer tells Life & Style.
“Divorcing was the only way to keep Heidi’s career going because everyone hated me so much. Look at Sandra Bullock – her divorce from Jesse James was the best thing to happen to her image.”
While Life & Style reportedly paid for their interview, the money will barely cover Heidi’s plastic surgery treatments.
As for Spencer, “I can’t make regular money because I was playing such an unlikeable character on TV to keep my checks coming. Who wants to hire the jerk from The Hills?”
Spencer and Heidi look for jobs…. now that’s a reality series, especially in this economy.
