Harrison Ford has a few choice words for “Blade Runner 2049, the sequel to the 1982 classic “Blade Runner,” like calling the movie an “experiential opportunity.” He sat down for an interview with Ryan Gosling to talk about how audiences will relate to the film.

The film is set 30 years after the first film, according to the movie’s synopsis.

A new blade runner, LAPD Officer K, unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos.

He sets out to find Rick Deckard (Ford), the former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

“It’s an experiential opportunity,” Ford said about the role in a new interview with Reuters.

“You discover your relationship to the ideas in the context of am emotional geography. So, I think for an audience it’s an opportunity to engage you in a way that’s pretty rare.”

Ford said there will be plenty of new information coming at audiences. The film, he says, meets his expectations.

Also weighing in on the film, in a separate video featurette are executive producer Ridley Scott, director Denis Villeneuve, director of photography Roger Deakins, production designer Dennis Gassner, art director Paul Inglis and visual effects supervisor John Nelson.

“When I directed the original ‘Blade Runner’ 35 years ago, I could never have imagined how iconic it would still be,” says Scott.

So what do the critics think?

The film has a whopping 95 rating based on 75 reviews on rottentomatoes, which tracks critics’ appraisals.

“There is a something to think about here, a fair amount to feel and even more to see,” writes A.O. Scott for The New York Times, giving it a positive bump.

But not everyone sees it that way.

“While Blade Runner 2049 is always something to look at, an overly elaborate script and some other bad habits common to today’s sequel machinery – such as glaring product placement – have broken the Blade Runner spell,” writes Jake Coyle of the Associated Press.
