Donald Trump likes to be the President with the biggest and best of everything, and today he’s being recognized for a major accomplishment. He told his 2,000th lie in less than year in office!
Every president is known for something and Trump’s legacy will be presidential lying.
Nobody has done it better.
With just over a week still to go in his first year as president, Trump has made 2,001 false or misleading claims, according to a Washington Post database used to track Trump’s misstatements.
That’s an enviable average of more than 5.6 lies per day.
Trump crossed the 2,000-lie threshold during his one-hour discussion on Jan. 9 with lawmakers about immigration.
Among his false claims:
“We can build the wall in one year and we can build it for much less money than what they’re talking about.”
Talking about the visa lottery, he said: “They put people in that they don’t want into a lottery and the United States takes those people.”
And this: “We have tremendous numbers of people and drugs pouring into our country. So in order to secure [the border] we need a wall.”
All three statements have been proven to be demonstrably false.
What’s more, Trump has no problem repeating falsehoods even after his claims have been debunked.
He’s repeated the drug smuggling lie at least 17 times, according to the newspaper. In just two months, he’s falsely described the diversity lottery 12 times.
Presidential achievements often merit recognition, so to honor the occasion, Jimmy Kimmel aired a new documentary, aptly titled, “Trump’s 2,000 Lies – A Documentary.”
