Michelle Wolf

Washington just can’t get Michelle Wolf out of its craw. So we go to the experts, late night comedians, to get their take on her White House Correspondent’s Dinner performance. (Photo: ScreencCap)

Michelle Wolf, who stood the White House Correspondent’s Dinner on its ear with her biting monologue, has no regrets about what she said. “I mean, I’m honestly—I wouldn’t change a single word that I said. I’m very happy with what I said, and I’m glad I stuck to my guns,” she said.

Probably the funniest part of her bit was the reaction afterward from right-wing media led by Fox News. Talking heads threw themselves into a frenzy of of shock–shock!–over her comments.

Of course, the ultimate in hypocrisy was the feigned outrage from President Trump.

“The White House Correspondents’ Dinner was a failure last year, but this year was an embarrassment to everyone associated with it,” Trump Tweeted. “The filthy ‘comedian’ totally bombed (couldn’t even deliver her lines-much like the Seth Meyers weak performance). Put Dinner to rest, or start over!”

The day our misogynistic, pussy-grabbing, sex-assaulting, porn-star bedding, wife cheating commander in chief sets the moral tone of the country will be the day Michelle Wolf’s mouth is sewn shut by dragon flies.

Wolf spared no one in her 20-minute address. Trump, Mike Pence, Kellyanne Conway, Rachel Maddow, Jake Tapper, Sean Hannity, Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski, Megyn Kelly and more were rightly skewered.

Did Fox News shed a tear for any of them? No, for some reason Sarah Huckabee Sanders was the focus of their crocodile tears. Even tough guy Sean Hannity was blubbering over the indignity heaped on this delicate flower of right-wing womanhood.

By why let the faux outrage of Fox News hosts be the final word? Lets go to the experts, who know comedy best, late night television comedians.

“Trump called it a great big boring bust,” said the “Tonight Show’s” Jimmy Fallon. “This is the first time in history Trump has called a big bust boring.”

“Some people got upset at the dinner when comedian Michelle Wolf made fun of members of the Trump administration. The president was furious: ‘Nobody makes a mockery of my staff, except me.”

Of course, Fallon had no problem taking shots at the President, who ditched the dinner for a rally in Michigan. Why sit and be roasted when he can bask in the adulation of his handpicked audience?

“You know most nights I come out her and make jokes about the news from Washington. Tonight the news about Washington is about jokes,” said Stephen Colbert, opening his monologue. “Who can tell them and who can take them.”

“She did not pull any punches, and some people were offended by what she had to say, presumably those poeple who have been a coma for the past two and a half years.”

“Who is this vulgar woman? President Hillary Clinton must have been very offended,” he added.

“At this event, roasting the administration and media, know who got mad? The administration and media…”

“Daily Show” comedian Trevor Noah went with a deadpan approach. It was all a play on the hypocrisy of Trump and the Fox News chorus.

“We have a lot of laughs here at the daily show. But comedy isn’t just about jokes. It’s also about being polite and respecting authority. Unfortunately, it appears that some comedians, like Michelle Wolf, don’t understand that,” he opined.

Full disclosure, Wolf used to work for “The Daily Show,” Noah said.

“Why didn’t someone stop that woman. Like, Michelle was roasting these people so hard they wanted police protection?” he continued. “Why didn’t the Secret Service jump in front of these jokes.”

James Cordon isn’t particularly political. After all, he’s from England. But even he couldn’t help himself after the right-wing pearl clutching.

Comedian Michelle Wolf hosted the dinner; she did the most amazing job. She was incredible. And, during the dinner she mocked journalists and politicians. So, you could see why Trump was upset. She’s stealing his act,” he said.

Seth Myers pointed out that Wolf used to work for his show. “First of all she doesn’t need anyone to defend her,” he said. “So just know when you call her filthy, you… are right. She is filthy, and she is mean, which is what we love about her.

“Because those are wonderful qualities for comedians and terrible qualities for free world leaders.”
