Khloe Kardashian Slammed for TSA Airport Rape Remark 1Khloe Kardashian is being slammed for her choice of words — namely, rape — to describe invasive airport pat-downs and X-ray scans, and most of the heat is coming from an unlikely sources — rape crisis centers and victims’ rights groups.

Groups such as the Santa Barbara Rape Crisis Center and even feminist Hollywood attorney, Gloria Allred, have blasted Khloe for her remark.

“Words matter and the word ‘rape’ should be used with caution and with great respect for the victims who have been forced to endure it. It is completely inappropriate to use that word for scans or pat-downs at airports,” Allred told radaronline.

So far, Kardashian, who stars in reality shows with sisters Kim and Kourtney Kardashian, has not responded to the criticism.

The 26-year-old reality television personality was sitting down with comedian George Lopez on his talk show when the topic shifted to the new airport security rules.

“They basically are just raping you in public,” Kardashian said. “I don’t want that X-ray to see everything, honey!”

If Kardashian was trying to be funny, the humor was lost on Jazmin Robles, a community education coordinator at the San Diego center.

“It was a very strong comment to make because rape is defined as ‘forceful penetration,'” Robles told the gossip web site.

“And a lot of young women look up to celebrities like the Kardashians,” she added.

“Maybe Khloe Kardashian is not educated enough on this subject to be talking about it in the context of airport security,” she added.

Allred reminded Kardashian that “rape is a crime of violence.”

“I believe that the word should not be used loosely to describe security measures at airports or at any other place,” she added.

“I think that many victims of sexual assault who have been the true victims of men who committed that violent crime against them and who have been forced to suffer the physical and emotional harm that results from that crime would be insulted that the term would be used in the way that Ms. Kardashian used it,” she added.
