Fox’s hit show “Glee” seems almost as anxiously awaited as the Super Bowl, which it will follow Sunday night (Feb. 6) with a blockbuster episode that’s reportedly the most expensive ever filmed.

Matthew Morrison, who plays Will on the show, told reporters after a concert over the weekend that the episode will be super.

“There are going to be a lot of theatrics, a lot of crazy stuff going on–people being shot out of cannons,” he said. “But at the same time, there is going to be a lot of heart to it.”

The show will start off with fireworks, almost literally, with an opening number heavily targeting the male dominated Super Bowl audience.

The opening Cheerios dance number is set to Katy Perry’s “California Gurls,” and will feature a sexually charged dance routine, complete with cheerleaders, flaming hoops, whips, torches, and a bevy of bikini-clad girls.

“I think our opening number is going to retain a lot of male viewers,” says co-creator/executive producer Ian Brennan.

“We put stuff in there understanding that there are a lot of dudes who watch the Super Bowl,” adds co-creator/executive producer Brad Falchuk.

“It was making sure that the dudes who refuse to watch Glee are like ‘Wait a second!’”

CBS News anchor Katie Couric will also make a cameo appearance. Beside the pyrotechnics, some of the cast will be locking lips in unexpected kisses, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

If that doesn’t grab Super Bowl watchers, then the opening number will; click to watch!
