Lady Gaga found out the hard way that sometimes you just can’t go home again. The mega pop star was filming a segment for an Anderson Cooper special that called for her to check out the places she lived before she got famous.

When Gaga showed up on the doorstep of one of her old apartments at 76 Stanton Street in Manhattan, she got a surprise reception.

The current resident blew her off.

“Hi, this is Lady Gaga. I was just wondering if I could say, ‘Hi,'” the pop queen said, knocking on the door unannounced with 60 Minutes cameras in tow.

But the apartment dweller gave her a curt reply: “I’d rather not have any cameras.”

Just goes to show that not everybody is a fame whore.

Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, had lived in the apartment three years before her record career took off.

At least all is not lost, Gaga and Anderson sit in the stairwell of her old building and go through a box of mementos from early in her career and she discusses her upcoming new album Born This Way for the first time.

The Lady Gaga TV special is set to air Feb. 13, right before the The Grammy Awards on CBS.
