Oscar host James Franco has bitch slapped comedian Ricky Gervais, in continuing fallout from Gervais’ Golden Globes gig. Franco was irked over a faux monologue Gervais wrote for the Oscars show.
“He did his award show and he bombed. Why is he trying to get in on ours?” Franco told E! News’ reporter Jason Kennedy.
Franco, who will cohost the 83rd Annual Academy Awards Sunday (Feb. 27) with Anne Hathaway called the funny man’s script “horrible.”
“His lines weren’t good on the Golden Globes,” Franco said. “Why does he want to do our lines?”
Gervais’ monologue included a racially charged joke for Hathaway.
“And I’m the new Catwoman. The first white woman to play that role since Michelle Pfeiffer. I want it to be an inspiration to all white people everywhere. Your dreams can come true in Hollywood too.”
The British comedian obviously isn’t tuned in to American sensitivities.
For her part Hathaway told The Hollywood Reporter she Gervais-style jokes will be off-limits during the show.
Gervais posted the monologue on his blog last week, but told the Reporter he won’t be watching the show.
