Matthew Morrison may be a Gleek, but he’s not gay, despite persistent rumors, which he says stem from his Broadway background. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
Morrison, 32, plays teacher and Glee club mentor Will Schuester on the hit Fox show, which deals openly and frankly with homosexuality.
Now that he is about to extend his franchise to music with a new solo album, Morrison’s sexuality has become and object of speculation. But he brushes off the issue.
“I sing and dance for a living and there is that connotation associated with me. I don’t care, I know my truth,” he told London’s Daily Mirror.
Morrison has been linked romantically to Cameron Diaz and English model Kelly Brook.
Before that he dated Danny Cipriani and has also been linked to Olivia Munn.
Morrison had a long-term relationship with Chrishell Strause, which ended in 2007, and dated actress Kristin Bell in college.
‘My time on Broadway was the best. There was a lot of beautiful dancers – and being one of the only straight guys… I kinda had a lot of options,” he said.
Morrison insists he’s single and attributes that to the infrequency of his social outings. He also says he’s too busy with his career right now.
As for his music careeer, the star released his debut solo single, “Summer Rain,” last month.
Gwyneth Paltrow, who has been a hit as a Glee guest star, is collaborating on Morrison’s upcoming album. She’ll perform “Over the Rainbow” with him.
