The pop princess’s video debuted today (Apr. 6) on her YouTube channel. It plays off the Apocalyptic day, Dec. 12, 2012, the world is supposed to end, according to the ancient Mayans.
The video depicts the end coming in a hail of meteors, or possibly fallout from a huge volcanic explosion somewhere.
In any event, Spears and her crew keep the faith by dancing the end away.
The video evokes images of a Mel Gibson’s “Mad Max” movies, or the more recent “Book of Eli,” a post-Apocalyptic film starring Denzel Washington, Gary Oldman, Mila Kunis, Ray Stevenson and Jennifer Beals.
According to Britney’s interpretation, humankind will be reduced to living like rats in dirty basements and underground parking garages.
Britney, however, looks none-the-worse for wear.
While her dancers look thoroughly Mad Maxish in dirty, ripped clothes and heavy biker boots, the pop princess wears a skimpy black body suit and a Burberry Prorsum leather jacket.
What’s with that? Seems, the fashion house survives the big blast.
But all is not lost. It’s a Britney Spears video, after all.
When the destruction stops, and the sun comes out, Brit is there, popping her sexy blonde head through a manhole cover.
The single is off her new album Femme Fatale, which was released four weeks ago and quickly hit the top ten.
“The set was a little much. It was grimy and it was gross and it felt like there was poop everywhere when there really wasn’t, it was just sweat everywhere,” she said about the shoot.
“It was disgusting sometimes. It was a bit much, yeah. (But) I toughed it out… It was fun, it was a lot of fun.”
