Osama bin Laden, 9/11 Terror Attack Architect, Dead 1Osama bin Laden, the Saudi Arabian mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attack on New York and Washington, has been slain and has body is in the hands of U.S. military, according to several reports.

President Obama made a statement to the country announcing the news and providing details leading to his death at about 11:30pm last night (May 1).

In a national address, President Obama said, acting on intelligence, U.S. special forces launched a “targeted assault” that killed Mr. Bin Laden at a well guarded compound in Pakistan.

The president said U.S. forces met resistance and a firefight followed in which bin Laden was killed. U.S. forces seized his body, and suffered no casualties.

bin Laden was reportedly shot at least once in the head. It’s unknown if he was involved in the firefight.

President Obama said he personally ordered the attack.

The U.S. vow to avenge the attack that led to the deaths of nearly 3,000 innocents Americans in the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Washington has come full circle.

Drone strikes in the tribal areas of Pakistan has diminished the terror network’s ability to do anything more than hide from the CIA’s Hellfire missiles, the Center for Strategic and International Studies concluded in a new analysis released Tuesday.

“Al Qaeda core currently possesses the motivation for continued attacks but is constrained by a limited capability to operate independently,” wrote the report’s authors, Rick (Ozzie) Nelson and Thomas Sanders.

“Al Qaeda was forced to rely heavily on the Haqqani network and Pakistani Taliban for operational and logistical support,” the study reported. “Affiliates now account for a larger share of attacks.”

Osama bin Laden was born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 1957.

His father Mohammed bin Awad bin Laden was a wealthy businessman with close ties to the Saudi royal family.

Bin Laden built his organization and philosophy around the concept that restoration of strict Sharia law as written in the Koran would unite the Muslim world.

All other ideologies—”pan-Arabism, socialism, communism, democracy” were considered blaspheme and were to be opposed.

The president was initially scheduled to speak at 10:30pm, but was delayed while world leaders, members of Congress and other government officials were briefed.
