Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, Paul “DJ Pauly D” DelVecchio and other “Jersey Shore” cast members may be of Italian descent, but Italy apparently want’s nothing to do with them. Their Italian road trip has hit more roadblocks.
Ever since show host MTV announced plans to film the kids in Italy, the popular series has hit one snag after another.
Italians authorities and media have criticized the show and cast members for fostering negative stereotypes about Italians.
Filming of the fourth season of the show was scheduled to start this week, but at the last moment, officials in Florence pulled the rug out from under the show, according to gossip site radaronline.
The historic city revoked the show’s permits to film at such landmarks as the Uffizi gallery and Palazzo Vecchio among other sites.
Florence Mayor Matteo Renzi also banned the reality stars frm filming in bars and drinking in public, both of which are staples for the show’s hilarious footage.
Producers have already rented a townhouse in Florence.
The Situation and Pauly D have been filmed with their suitcases, arriving at the airport. But so far, that’s as close as they’ve come to Italy.
