Prince William and Duchess Catherine are going Hollywood. During their upcoming visit to their former colony, aka the United States, they’ll walk the red carpet at the “BAFTA Brits to Watch” ceremony in Los Angeles.
The event at the Belasco Theatre, July 9, highlights emerging British musical talent.
“Being given the opportunity of meeting Hollywood’s elite will provide a highly significant and beneficial moment for them,” said Nigel Lythgoe, chairman of BAFTA in Los Angeles.
The royal couple married at London’s Westminster Abbey on April 29 and have just begun to undertake duties as the future king and queen of England.
During their time in California from July 8 to July 10, William and Catherine will also be attending a meet-and-greet with senior US politicians at the Consular General’s Los Angeles residence, according to the palace.
Also on their schedule are visits to an arts-based program that assists disadvantaged and homeless children.
The couple, who will be staying at an undisclosed location during their visit, will also attend a polo match to benefit the American Friends of the Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry,
The 28-year-old prince will take part, and Kate will hand out the prizes.
“The tour will be a double act, but there will be occasions when the couple will separate, such as walkabouts,” said Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, the pair’s press secretary, told USMagazine.com.
