Lady Gaga would walk a thousand miles in platform shoes for her man, and sets out on journey to Nebraska to prove it, in a video for her song “You and I.” She also plays a dude!
Gaga, an avid Tweeter with more than two million followers released a link to the video over the social networking site today (Aug. 16).
“You must love all + every part of me, as must I, for this complex + incomprehensible force to be true,” she wrote, cryptically.
“You and I” is the fourth single from her album, Born This Way.
Of note, Queen’s Brian May plays guitar on the track and Shania Twain’s ex-husband “Mutt” Lange produced the video.
The video opens with Gaga dressed in funereal black, walking along a dusty Nebraska road, which happens to be the home state of boyfriend Luc Carl.
A rapid succession of scenes follow that include at least one of her getting married, a mermaid tail splashing in a bathtub and a scene where she is lying on the ground buying ice cream from a creepy guy in a Good Humor truck.
Next she’s belting out the bluesy rock tune with her male counterpart, Jo Calderone, sitting on her piano.
Gaga does a pretty good job cross-dressing as a man.
The 25-year-old singer said her on-again, off-again boyfriend was her inspiration for the tune.
“I wouldn’t have been as successful without him,” said Gaga recently.
“I’ve never really loved anyone like I loved him. Or like I love him. That relationship really shaped me. It made me into a fighter.
“After I broke up with him, I promised myself I would never love again and would make him rue the day he doubted me. But then I again moved back to him. [It was] love,” she said.
She may look like a man, but she still thinks like a woman.
