Lady Gaga performs a remarkable three-fer. She not only sings and plays the piano, but pulls off her lacy black bra at the same time in a new promo spot for the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards.
Gaga sings her new song, “You and I” with a jazzier arrangement accompanied by drums, a trumpet and stand-up bass.
Fortunately her long platinum blonde extensions protect her modesty while she’s at the piano.
She stands up near the end of the clip and uses a page of sheet music to cover her chest.
The arty, black-and-white clip is one of three released by the network in advance of its awards show this Sunday (Aug 28).
The 25-year-old singer will be the opening performer on the show at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
“It means the world to me,’ Gaga said of being asked to open the show. ‘I just feel really blessed every day. I have the most amazing fans.”
She is up for four VMAs, herself for Best Female Video, Best Video With a Message for her song, “Born This Way,” Best Art Direction and Best Choreography for her song “Judas.”
The other clips show Gaga talking about her musical inspiration and her thoughts about writing music.
“Sometimes I’m really happy when I write music, and sometimes I’m really angry. Sometimes I’m really drunk and sometimes I’m super sober. You never know why or if you write music.” she said.
“I really believe that art is this huge lie,” she says in another clip. “We sing it and we dance it and we dress it every day, and me and my friends, we hope some day, we tell it enough so it becomes true.”
