Apparently it’s all about style. Sarah, 20, made fun of Lea’s red carpet posing in an interview on E! Entertainment’s Fashion Police with Joan Rivers.
“It’s just like, she puts her hands on her hips like this and like sticks out her collarbones — I don’t know if you can see — she sticks out her collarbones to make her look skinnier and she goes sticks out her lips,” Hyland said.
Hyland wore a Christian Siriano dress to the show that also left room for some style criticism.
In any event, Michele apparently caught wind of the comments. “I gotta be honest. It hurt my feelings a little bit,’ Michele told Us Weekly yesterday (Sept 23).
Lea’s Twitter fans also had a tizzy, ripping Hyland for her remarks.
That prompted Hyland to respond on Twitter with a half-hearted apology.
“I did not intend for my comments to be taken in a malicious way,” she said.
“But I did hate [her] dress. Called her ass great. Did you all hear that one?” she added.
“Congrats Lea. You know how to work the red carpet. I can’t take it as seriously as you,” she wrote.
“I can’t take myself that seriously. I don’t like the red carpet. I feel silly. So props to her for knowing what she’s doing and enjoying it.”
Ouch; that sure sounded like damning with faint praise.
