Katy Perry, Matt Damon and Andy Samberg were spotted filming a digital short for NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” yesterday (Dec. 9) in the West Village in New York. Talk about cutting it close, the show airs tonight.

The scene, which also includes a walk on by Val Kilmer is an obvious play on the Occupy Wall Street crowd. Or maybe it’s about the homeless at Christmas.

Damon and Kilmer looked dressed to play disheveled street people down to the rotten teeth.

Perry has appeared on SNL before as a musical guest, but this is her first hosting gig.

“I’ve only ever hosted, like, dinner parties and birthday parties. This is a bit more than that,” she told MTV News.

“It’s not as intimidating when you get here because it’s a bit smaller than it looks on TV, and I’m up for a challenge, for something new. I love to be challenged … I married Russell Brand.”

In fact, Katy said Russell has been a big help with her preparation for the live skit comedy show.

“My husband, of course, every day I call him and I’m like ‘this happened’ and he’s like, ‘I know what that means and here’s the next play-by-play for tomorrow,’ so he’s gotten me really prepared for this week, thankfully,” she told MTV.

Katy also shows off her shorter blonde hairstyle on the show.
