New York housewife Kelly Bensimon is apparently downscaling. She’s put her beach house in tony East Hampton up for sale for $12 million. But the price seems very ambitious given its location. Then again, Kelly is nothing if not ambitious.
Bensimon, 43, appeared on “The Real Housewives of New York” for three years. Bravo did not renew her contract last year along with Jill Zarin, Alex McCord and Cindy Barshop. Since then, she’s been casting about for new work. Money may be getting tight.
Property taxes on the house are $4,726 a month. Last year Kelly offered the place for rent for $300,000 for the three-month season. The 5,800-square-foot house has five bedrooms and a pool. But the house is modest by Hamptons standards, and it’s good long walk to the beach. Both hint overpriced, especially in the weak real estate market.
The two-story traditional is the perfect blend of chic city design mixed with Hamptons comfort and charm, according to realtor Enzo Morabito, who is listing the property. It features fire places, private bedroom terrace, stainless steel kitchen, and a pool on 1.2 acres. What no tennis court?
Where Kelly gets her money is anyone’s guess. She lists her occupations as author, jewelry designer, former model, and former editor of Elle Accessories magazine. Oh yes, she was married to French fashion photographer Gilles Bensimon. She was his third. The had two daughters and divorced in July 2007.
Bensimon is reportedly working on a shoe line with BBC International called “Kelly” and a new healthy lifestyle book, “I Can Make You Hot!” with St. Martin’s Press, available in April. She’s working on developing a new TV project, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
