Demi Moore struggled with convulsions in a scene marked by mass confusion as panicked friends called 911 to seek emergency assistance for an apparent drug reaction, according to the 911 call of the incident.
Moore, who has lost a shocking amount of weight since her divorce from Ashton Kutcher, was hospitalized Tuesday (Jan. 24). At the time, the cause of her medical condition was unknown. But an adverse reaction to a drug was discussed during the call.
Despite reports that Moore was whiffing nitrous oxide, aka whip-its, one of the callers said she had been smoking some kind of herb or incense when she began convulsing. The caller said she had also done “some other things.” She was described as “barely conscious” and “burning up.”

Although the drugs were described to the 911 technician, they were edited out of the call released by the L.A. City Fire Dept.
There is utter confusion at the beginning of the call — the dispatcher doesn’t know which department should handle the call. The woman says Demi smoked something — not marijuana — similar to incense and she’s having convulsions. The person says Demi was barely conscious.
the L.A. City Attorney’s office said references to specific drugs and other substances Demi ingested were edited out of the tape because of privacy issues, according to gossip site TMZ.
In the first minutes of the call tempers flared as the 911 paramedic tried to get an accurate fix on the location of Moore’s Hollywood home. Tempers rose when two dispatchers went back and forth over who had jurisdiction to send out an emergency medical team.
“Sir this is an emergency and you have to get her as soon as possible,” said a friend on the phone, who identified herself as Andrea.
“Ma’am, ma’am, I’m just trying to get the address,” the paramedic replied.
At the time, Moore was in another room and a sobbing voice can be heard in the background saying “I can’t go in there.”
The dispatcher tried to hand the call off to the Beverly Hills fire department, but the dispatcher there said the location was out of their jurisdiction.
“Why isn’t an ambulance not on its way right now?” the woman said in an increasingly agitated voice.
Ma’am instead of arguing with me why an ambulance is on they way, why don’t you spell [the address] for me.”
With that, the L.A. Fired Department took the run, and the paramedic began asking questions about what happened.
“She smoked something, it’s not marijuana but it’s similar to incense, and she seems to be having convulsions at this point,” she said.
The person on the phone said the reaction was accidental. By the time the paramedics arrived, Demi had calmed down, but after an assessment, they took her to the hospital.
The emergency call came in at 10:49 p.m. for an “unknown illness related to that address,” L.A. City Fire Dept. spokesman Matt Spence told People. “We transported at least one patient to a local hospital. The patient was transported at 11:21 p.m.”
Moore, 49, split from Kutcher in November, after an embarrassing sex scandal. Kutcher was caught partying with three women nude in a hot tub in San Diego on the night of his wedding anniversary. He reportedly had sex with one of the women, who sold her story to tabloids.
