Kim Kardashian could use a boyfriend right now; a high-profile one with a big name and a big bankroll. It would sure help scrub away some of the stigma from her brutally failed marriage to Kris Humphries. But if not a boyfriend, then how about a rumor of one?

Nothing is sacred when it comes to marketing the Kardashians, and Kim right now is damaged goods. She needs a photo op with a big handsome hunk. Put her next to someone, anyone, with a profile that says she’s desirable.

Unfortunately, that rules out sleazy playas like Reggie Bush, Ray J, Diddy and Kanye West, who was said to be all over her at a recent event. She needs a role model, a Kris Humphries with class, a franchise player. No Charlie Tunas need apply.

Kim has been trying to get back in the game by tweeting sexy photos of herself, poking fun at her horrific crying episode on “Kourtney & Kim Take New York” and getting spotted around town in drop dead gorgeous outfits. But that alone won’t get her there.

With all eyes on the Super Bowl, a burly football player would do the trick. Word spread earlier this week that she was crushing on Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow. The devout, square-jawed Christian is just the ticket. Kim laid some bait. She started Tweeting about God.

But Tebow’s people quickly let it be known it wasn’t happening, no way, no how. John Legend even sang a Tebow tribute song that threw a flag on any possible relationship. Check it out below

That’s when the latest rumor surfaced, that she was secretly seeing New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez.

Rumor had it that they have been quietly seeing each other on the down low since the first season of KKTNY. Now that Kim is back on the market, the two reportedly renewed their relationship. That would be scandalous given she was wooing–not to mention married–to Humphries during that time, as well.

So Kim quickly shot that one down herself. “dating rumors are always fun when u don’t even know the people your supposedly linked to! Who makes this stuff up!” she tweeted today (Feb. 3)

So it’s untrue. But don’t fret, rumors serve a purpose, even if they are fleeting and groundless. They officially put Kim in play and establish her value, like a stock option or a futures contract. Now, the only question is who will buy it?
