Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez Give Props to Carly Rae Jepsen (watch!) 1

Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber camp it up in Carly Rae Jepsen tribute.

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez lead a passel of young Hollywood friends in a campy homemade shoutout to an up-and-coming Canadian singer/songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen for her song “Call Me Maybe.”

It’s not that Carly is entirely unknown. Since she posted the video for her song on YouTube last December she’s gotten more than 3.4 million views. But the Justin/Selena version has gotten 3.4 million views in just three days.

Ashley Tisdale and her new boyfriend, Martin Johnson, actress Sammy Droke, former “Hanna Montana” star Mateo Arias and Big Time Rush’s Logan Henderson, Kendall Schmidt and Carlos Pena, joined in the video.

There’s nothing fancy about the video. Justin and friends just clown around in front of the camera while mouthing the words to the song. They pass around a fake mustache and extra-large sunglasses. And, Justin and Selena can be seen almost kissing.

Bieber is apparently backing the 26-year-old Canadian’s career. He heard her song on Canadian radio and really liked it. Scooter Braun, Justin’s agent, has already signed Jepsen to his label, Schoolboy Records.

Selena apparently is also a big fan. She Tweeted to her fans, “This smile is because of Carly Rae Jepsen.. We have not stopped listening your song girl!” That has probably helped drive traffic to Jepsen’s YouTube video.

Jepson isn’t exactly a newcomer to music. She was nominated for a Juno, Canada’s equivalent of the Grammys. In 2007, she placed third in the fifth season of “Canadian Idol,” and also appeared in the Canadian Idol Top 3 concert tour.

She released her debut single a cover of John Denver’s song “Sunshine On My Shoulders” the following year. She released her first album Tug of War in Sept. 2008. her second studio album “Curiosity” will be released Feb. 28.

“Call Me Maybe” is the first song by a Canadian artist to reach the top of the digital chart since Justin Bieber’s “Baby” in January 2010.
