Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron Talk Snow White on Today (watch!) 1Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron took their two-woman show to New York this morning (Mar. 19) to meet with Matt Lauer on the NBC’s Today show. Both were radiant, even if they had a little trouble explaining their new movie.

What seemed to grab them the most were “Snow White and the Huntsman’s two strong female characters.

“You want to join the cause – I believed in it so much,” Stewart said. “It’s an action movie that had a reason. It never felt like it was a movie where it’s trying to have a strong girl character.”

Although the story of Snow White is best known through the classic Disney animation, the fairy tale is actually a dark story and the latest incarnation plays that angle to the hilt. But Theron said it still has redeeming qualities for a five-year-old.

“It’s a cautionary tale,” she said. “You want your five-year-old to turn out like Snow White and NOT like the evil queen.”

Matt also asked Kristen to address what the actors in the upcoming film, “The Hunger Games,” are likely to face from her experience being in the center of a “white hot” media storm because of “Twilight.”

“Take your glass ball, tell us,” added Charlize.

“It gets very crazy and instantly the question is are you going to be able to handle it; is this what you want?.” she said. “It’s obvious that the cast didn’t sign up to be the next big thing, and it’s kind of cool that way.”

Contrary to other tabloid Web site reports, Matt did not ask about the so-called “feud” between Stewart and Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence. The feud was a manufactured story by tabloids that had no basis in truth.
