Andrew Garfield looks menacing in his new Spider-Man costume. He plays a slightly darker character in “The Amazing Spider-Man,” a reboot of the previous series. Yet he still looks geeky enough to play Peter Parker.
Garfield, 28, says he’s been working out to tone-up for the part, and decided not to go with any extra padding in his suit. He shot the film last year, but the images were just released today (Mar. 21).
In the previous three films, Tobey Maguire played Spider-Man opposite Kirsten Dunst. Garfield’s love interest is being played by Emma Stone. She’s the daughter of the Chief of Police, George Stacy, played by Denis Leary.

The new suit has been done in deeper shades of blue and red with a black mesh overlay. The web shooters Spidey uses to swing from building to building are also more prominent.
Garfield did all of his own stunts in the film, and the picture also has been shot in 3D.
“There’s an experiential component to 3D that’s really fantastic and we’re experimenting with generating that point of view so you feel how Spider-Man feels when he’s jumping over these buildings,” Director Marc Webb said in a recent interview.
The movie will not pick up where the series left off. It will cover Peter Parker’s high school days and his infection by a radio-active spider that gives him his super strength and intelligence.
His aunt and uncle are played by Sally Field and Martin Sheen. The film will be released this summer. Check out the photos above!
