Anne Hathaway looks stunningly festive for the December issue of Vogue magazine, its holiday special. The feature is well timed. Her most ambitious film to date, Les Misérables, hits theaters on Christmas day.
Hathaway is still sporting her closely cropped hair, although it has grown out from the ratty cut she has in the movie.
The actress, who turned 30 this week, plays Fantine, the struggling factory worker and mother of Cosette, an illegitimate child. Her predicament forces her into prostitution and she lands in jail, where her head is shaved.

The all-star cast also includes Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Sacha Baron Cohen, Helena Bonham Carter and Samantha Barks.
The film is based on the musical by Alain Boublil, Claude-Michel Schönberg and Herbert Kretzmer, which is adapted from the 1862 French novel by Victor Hugo.
Director Tom Hooper chose to record the actors singing live on set compared with prerecording vocals in a studio. The technique heightens the drama of the production because it allows the actors to phrase songs to match the dramatic moment of the scene.
Hathaway is photographed by Annie Leibovitz. She wears an off-the-shoulder emerald dress for the cover and is photographed in rapturous poses for the inside pages. Tonne Goodman handled styling.
