Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj vied for the best and worst dressed on the red carpet at the 40th Anniversary American Music Awards last night (Nov. 18) in a stunning display of singers and celebrities.
Swift’s stunning gold dress was crafted by Zuhair Murad, the Lebanese designer who is dressing much of young Hollywood, including Kristen Stewart.
Meanwhile, American Idol alum Carrie Underwood won the award for best country album. Carrie was up against Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. Swift’s album, Red, was ineligible because of timing.
Supermodel Heidi Klum, one of a number of non-musical guests, also hit the red carpet in a stunning gold mini-dress with a slit high up her thigh that showed off her fabulously long legs. Her designer was Alexander Vauthier.
Metal fabrics were the most prevalent of the night. George Clooney girlfriend, Stacy Keibler, wore a tight silver dress. Hayden Panettiere also wore silver, while Elisha Cuthbert and Brandy went with gold.
Carly Rae Jepsen wore a more formal, sparkling pink gown that showed her cleavage. She won the award for Best New Artist.
Justin Bieber was a main attraction, but Selena Gomez, his on-again, off again girlfriend was not. Justin went with his 30-something mom, whom he dragged up on the stage when he won Artist of the Year.
