Oprah Ranks Steven Spielberg's Lincoln Among Epics (video) 1Oprah Winfrey, credited with propelling books onto best seller lists and even helping elect a president, is urging her legions of fans to see Steven Speilberg’s epic movie “Lincoln” in prelude to her special on the film with the director and stars Sally Field and Daniel Day-Lewis.

“if you haven’t seen ‘Lincoln’ yet, I encourage you to do so,” she says in a promo for the upcoming special on her OWN Network. “There is nothing like it.”

The film went into limited release in 11 theaters on Nov. 9, and went into wide release in more than 2,000 theaters on Nov. 16. To date, it’s grossed more than $68 million domestically, easily earning back its $65 million budget, according to boxoffice mojo.

Winfrey has special praise for Day-Lewis, whom, she said, captured Lincoln like “a hologram.”

“The entire film will reach into the marrow of your soul,” Oprah gushed. “I haven’t experienced a film… I can’t remember experiencing anything quite like it.”

Winfrey chose a special location to interview Spielberg and cast. It’s the same room where she auditioned for a part in Spielberg’s 1985 period drama “The Color Purple.” Oprah played Sofia, one of the women who come of age in early 1900s America. She was nominated for a best supporting actress Oscar.

Spielberg and Winfrey literally haven’t seen each other since then, so they make the most of the reunion. The 90-minute special of “Oprah’s Next Chapter” airing Sunday, Dec. 2 (9-10:30 p.m. ET/PT).
