Adam Levine Blown Out on The Voice; Last Two Singers Voted Off 1Melanie Martinez and Amanda Brown got the ax on “The Voice” last night, leaving mentor Adam Levine of Maroon 5, with his head in his hands in disappointment. But he was philosophical about the setback.

“This is just a small sprint in the massive marathon that is life,” he told the contestants.

“This is just one small, beautiful, amazing experience and you are going to have a lot more of them. I am not worried about you. I’m not worried about you at all,” he added.

The results last night leave four contestants: Nicholas David, Terry McDermott, Trevin Hunte and Cassadee Pope. They belong to Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton. Christina Aguilera is also out of contestants.

“It’s the first time we’ve come to the elimination process and I’m not sitting here, biting my nails like a nervous wreck,” said Xtina.

Next week the four contestants will fight to get into the final round. They all delivered knock-out performances Monday night.

On last night’s show, the contestants got to have a little fun with the coaches. McDermott chided the Maroon 5 frontman for wearing a tee-shirt with “designer” holes in it, which he said, undoubtedly cost $600.

“With this price tag I’d take it back and buy 75 shirts that I liked that didn’t have holes in,” said the rock-star wannabe.

The theme of the evening was duets. Brown and Pope teamed sang Kelly Clarkson’s ballad “Breakaway.” McDermott sang One Republic’s “Feel Again” with Hunte. Nicholas accompanied Martinez on piano on Fiona Apple’s song “Criminal.”

Matchbox 20 provided the evening’s pro entertainment playing their hit “Overjoyed.”
