Selena Gomez: Demand a Plan

Selena Gomez, Jon Hamm, Beyonce, Chris Rock, Gwyneth Paltrow and a slew of other celebrities have gotten together for their first public service announcement on behalf of a new campaign to ban or restrict assault weapons and ammunition. It’s powerful. Will it be effective?

In all, 55 celebs are featured in the black and white spot.

The public service announcement, sponsored by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns, addresses all of the egregious mass shootings in the United States going back to the Columbine High School massacre in 1999.

One by one, actors, singers and television personalities like Jamie Foxx, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Carey Mulligan and Beyonce reel off the tragedies; Virginia Tech, Tuscon, Aurora Ft. Hood, Old Creek and Newtown.

The message is clear; stars ask “How many more?” and “How many more colleges? How many more classrooms? How many more move theaters? How many more house of faith? How many more shopping malls? How many more street corners?

The answer is a collective “Enough.” The group rallies around the slogan “Demand a plan right now.”

The group also took out a full-page advertisement in The New York Times Dec. 19, demanding a plan. Watch the PSA below and click here to follow TheImproper on Twitter for all the latest gun control updates.
