“Twilight’s” Kristen Stewart, best known for her ratty collection of tee-shirts and converse sneakers, has been singled out for the “Look of the Year” by The New York Times‘ fashion and style magazine, known as “T.” Who knew!

Stewart has becoming increasingly enthralled by high fashion and has sported some cutting edge designs on the red carpet and in various fashion editorial shoots.

The article, penned by writer Edward Barsamian, was effusive in its praise for the 22-year-old actress. “There were few moments in fashion this year that felt as complete as Kristen Stewart stepping out with Balenciaga’s then-creative director Nicolas Ghesquière at the Costume Institute gala last May,” he wrote.

“She projected an attitude that seemed to epitomize Ghesquière’s vision for the brand: cool, carefree, uninhibited.” Wooo… he got that right. Kristen got a little too uninhibited in 2012.

Her affair with married director Rupert Sanders touched off a tabloid frenzy. Stewart also confessed to becoming particularly close to Ghesquière, who is about the same age as Sanders, 20 years Stewart’s senior.

The French fashion designer stood by her during her scandal amid rumors that Balenciaga wanted to drop. She remained as the face for one of their scents, Florabotanica. The brand was her favorite until Ghesquière was sacked in November. She hasn’t worn it since.

The article praised Stewart for “wearing exactly the right thing at precisely the right moment.”

That included sheer fabrics (Zuhair Murad, Jason Wu); bra top and bare midriff (Balenciaga); pajamas (Roberto Cavalli) and graphic black and whites (Louis Vuitton).
