JenniferLawrence-vanityfair-frontJennifer Lawrence appears to have a date with destiny. She’s landed on the February cover of Vanity Fair magazine. The editors are betting she’ll be in the news when the Academy Awards are handed out Feb. 24.

Lawrence, 22, was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar in 2010 for her role as Ree Dolly in “Winter’s Bone,” an indie drama about growing up poor in the Ozarks.

She lost out that year to Natalie Portman, who won for “Black Swan.” But this year Lawrence is back in contention for her role in the comedy-drama “Silver Linings Playbook.”

She’s already been nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress, Comedy or Musical. In the film, she played an out-of-work widow who rebuilds her life after forming an unusual bond with a bi-polar man, played by Bradley Cooper.

She shares the category with Emily Blunt for “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen,” Judy Dench for “Best Exotic Marigold Hotel,” Maggie Smith in “Quartet” and perennial nominee Meryl Streep, for “Hope Springs.”

It seems like destiny is on her side.

She posed for hot fashion photographer Ellen Von Unwerth at the Standard Hotel in New York City, wearing Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors and Guess.

She says she has no plans to play it safe, but then, why should she? As the magazine notes, she’s already been nominated and has showed she can carry a film, whether it’s a low-budget indie, a big-budget blockbuster (“Hunger Games”) or a film franchise (X-Men).

“I love filmmaking. I love acting. But I don’t feel married to being just in front of the camera,” she says. Look out Hollywood.
